All-optical Binary Counter by Using T Flip-flop: an Implementation

چکیده
ABSTRACT: All-optical T (Toggle) flip-flop with preset (PR) and clear (CLR) are basic building modules for the development of ultra-high speed all optical binary counter. In this paper, a non-linear material based alloptical switching mechanism is utilized here to realize the all-optical T flip-flop with PR and CLR. A composite slab of linear medium (LM) and non-linear medium (NLM) is used to design the all-optical switch that exploit the attractive features of NLM. These all-optical T flip-flops can find application in the development of several complex all-optical circuits of enhanced performances. Here we demonstrate an all-optical binary 3-bit ripple counter which is nothing but the successive application of the flip flop. This circuit can elevate to a higher bit different counters. As this all optical circuits are purely all-optical in nature, these are very simple as well as very fast. Also the schemes have capacity of cascading.

The Effects of Strained Multiple Quantum Well on the Chirped DFB-SOA All Optical Flip-Flop
In this paper, based on the coupled-mode and carrier rate equations, a dynamic model and numerical analysis of a multi quantum well (MQW) chirped distributed feedback semiconductor optical amplifier (DFB-SOA) all-optical flip-flop is precisely derived. We have analyzed the effects of strains of QW and MQW and cross phase modulation (XPM) on the dynamic response, and rise and fall times of the ...

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) technology is an alternative to overcoming the constraints of CMOS technology. In this paper, a new structure for D-type latch is presented in QCA technology with set and reset terminals. The proposed structure, despite having the set and reset terminals, has only 35 quantum cells, a delay equal to half a cycle of clocks and an occupied area of 39204 nm2. T...
متن کاملDesign and Test of New Robust QCA Sequential Circuits
One of the several promising new technologies for computing at nano-scale is quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA). In this paper, new designs for different QCA sequential circuits are presented. Using an efficient QCA D flip-flop (DFF) architecture, a 5-bit counter, a novel single edge generator (SEG) and a divide-by-2 counter are implemented. Also, some types of oscillators, a new edge-t...

This paper presents a method of design the counter using sequential system based on synchronous techniques. For the design the counter, first of all, we derive switching algebras and their operations. Also, we obtain the next-state functions, flip-flop excitations and their input functions from the flip-flop. Then, we propose the algorithm which is a method of implementation of the synchronous ...
متن کاملAll Optical Flip-Flop Based on Coupled Laser Diodes
An all optical set-reset flip flop is presented that is based on two coupled identical laser diodes. The lasers are coupled so that when one of the lasers lases it quenches lasing in the other laser. The state of the flip flop is determined by which laser is currently lasing. Rate equations are used to model the flip flop and obtain steady state characteristics. The flip flop is experimentally ...
